Q. Describe about APJ Abdul Kalam’s mother and his father.
Ans..APJ Abdul Kalam remembers his mother as a pious and generous woman.She was the ideal companion of his father.His mother came from a well-to-do family.One of his ancestors was given the title of ‘Bahadur’ by the British.She used to feed more strangers than her family members everyday.She was also an excellent cook.Kalam regularly had lunch with his mother on the kitchen floor.She served a traditional Tamil dishof rice, aromatic samber, homemade pickles and fresh coconut chutney on a banana leaf.
APJ Abdul Kalam in his autobiography ‘Strong Roots’ portrays his father Jainulabdeen as intelligent and generous.Kalam respected his father a lot.In his autobiography,he describes his father as having no formal education or wealth,but he had inner wisdom and a sense of genuine generosity.He began his day by offering prayers at 4 o’clock in the morning.He regularly took walks in his small coconut garden before dawn.He and Kalam used to go to a very old mosque in their neighborhood for evening prayers.He was a deeply spiritual man at heart He could express complex spiritual topics in simple Tamil.
